The 60’s
Purple haze and paisley pink
Sixty years gone by, quick as in the blink
of an eye. Heavy metal, folk and soul and rock
music loud enough to stop a clock
reckless poetry, freedom rides, protest marches, sit-ins
dreams of helping homeless children eating out of trash bins
bell bottoms, tie-dyed, mini-skirts, go go boots
back to the earth, back to the land, back to one’s roots
“Acting funny, I don’t know why
Excuse me while I kiss the sky”
