“Blue Vase with Oranges” Alexej von Jawlenski (1907)

“The Cow” Ogden Nash

Blue Vase

Hot pink sets the background for a red, green and pink
checked tablecloth, eight oranges and a slightly off-center
stout blue vase, primitive and expressionistic in style
no hidden images, no cryptic messages.
The distorted objects reveal no inner feelings or ideas of the artist.
I wonder why a serious artist would paint such a composite.
Perhaps it is like “the cow is of the bovine ilk; one end is moo
the other, milk” all in the name of fun.
Like word play, could this be pigment play.
