Around about the 1350’s
the Persian poet Hafiz wrote:
“What is the beginning of happiness?
It is to stop being so religious.”
Imagine such a thing
from a Sufi mystic recognized
as the most popular poet in Iran today.
So much wisdom from the past
and in places we least expect.
